Breeding Chickens

Southern Ghor, Al Safi

This project serves villages in the southern Ghor region in the Jordan Valley. These areas are officially classified as being of abject poverty. Because the region lacks in poultry producers, we launched this project to fill protein shortages for a number of selected poor families as well as giving them a source of basic income. The project employs a number of women and is structured to be sustainable.

Our project will work with farmer associations and independent farmers, experienced in raising poultry. Our calculations indicate that about 100 families will benefit from each production cycle. Each production cycle lasts 45 days, which allows for 3 to 4 cycles per year; this is due to the region’s high temperatures in summer. The first project cycle produces 1000 chicks and the second cycle is expected to produce 5000 chicks.

Rewell Society launches its projects on proven concepts; they are simple and easy to set up; they build on local knowledge and skills and require little funding to start. Your donations will provide underprivileged Jordanian families the opportunity to generate income and expand their skills.
